With over a decade of experience in early childhood education, Estrella Piatt brings deep care, expertise, and dedication to every child and family she serves. She holds an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Special Education, is CDA-certified, and maintains current CPR and AED certifications. As a fully licensed provider through the state of Colorado, Estrella creates a nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment where all children can thrive.

We're a part of the Rural Homes Early Childhood Initiative
Estrella Piatt, founder of Tiny Colorado Treasures Childcare, is proud to be one of only two providers selected for the Rural Homes Early Childhood Initiative (RHECI) pilot at the Waterview Development in Ouray County, Colorado. Raised in a small rural town by her grandmother, Estrella developed a passion for caring for children at a young age, later earning an associate degree in Early Childhood Education and accumulating over five years of hands-on experience in the field. Her dedication led her to complete a rigorous 12-week bilingual accelerator offered by Bright Futures, which used the nationally recognized All Our Kin curriculum to cover everything from licensing and contracts to business planning and homeownership readiness. The course—accredited for 30 hours of professional development through Colorado’s PDIS system—also included one-on-one coaching and licensing support, helping Estrella build a strong foundation for launching her home-based childcare business.
Following a competitive application and final business presentation, Estrella was selected as a provider for a brand-new, purpose-built home designed specifically for family child care. In collaboration with Rural Homes, Care Access Real Estate, and Mission Driven Finance, she moved into a beautiful two-story, three-bedroom home with a dedicated classroom and outdoor play space. The home was offered below market value with reduced rent and a path to ownership, thanks to generous community investment and grant funding—including a $25,000 grant used to furnish her space with high-quality classroom furniture, toys, learning materials, and child-safe equipment.
Now fully licensed to care for up to 12 children—the highest tier for in-home care in Colorado—Estrella operates Tiny Colorado Treasures Childcare Monday through Friday for children birth to age five, and also provides care on weekends and during the summer for children up to 17. Her program is built on a mission of nurturing children’s development, fostering strong relationships with families, and creating a safe, stimulating environment where learning happens through play and exploration. With a deep commitment to community and a warm, intentional approach rooted in her own family values, Estrella offers more than just childcare—she provides a dependable, enriching home-away-from-home where children can grow, thrive, and build a lifelong love of learning.
